Las letras de canal son un tipo de señalización arquitectónica de gran impacto visual, que logra destacar la marca de una forma profesional; por lo general se instalan en espacios exteriores para identificar el edificio, local comercial, planta u oficina, desde varios metros e incluso kilómetros de de distancia, la altura de cada letra o elemento puede alcanzar hasta 1.20m.

Estos anuncios con letras individuales son fabricados para cualquier tipo de letra y de acuerdo al pantone del cliente, pueden contar con luz LED interna o sin iluminación. La iluminación de las letras de canal puede ir dirigida hacia el frente o hacia la superficie en la que se colocará el anuncio (pared). Si el anuncio lleva iluminación frontal, requiere que la cara de las letras sea de acrílico traslúcido, las letras sin iluminación son fabricadas con aluminio para no permitir la filtración de luz y se ilumine de forma uniforme la parte posterior.
Los LEDs de las letras de canal van colocados con cinta doble cara que posee cada uno de los módulos y reforzados con pegamento para evitar su desplazamiento.

El canto de aluminio (profundidad) depende del tamaño de la letra, para que logre una proporción con la frase o logotipo, el mínimo que se requiere cuando una letra incluye iluminación es de 7cm con el fin que no se observen los puntos del LED, mientras que sin luz puede ser desde una pulgada. Se recomienda que el ancho de la letra sea de 15 cm, en ocasiones se pueden elaborar de 10cm, dependiendo la tipografía.
